The pollution mostly originated from historical activity and emissions, among other things, connected to long-term military activity and the operation of shipyards and other small industry. In addition there are pollution that stems from urban operations in previous times – such as emissions from sewers, landfills and different contaminants that come with rain showers and surface water. Port operations and several of the area based on the seabed have contributed to the pollution being swarmed up and spread around. In the period 2019-2020, 400,000 m2 seabed has been covered with pure matter, and the most polluted matter is dredged up and properly placed in a deep water landfill in the middle of the harbour basin, in an oxygen-
