The school had an area of 4,419 m2 over 4 floors and was previously a primary school that was altered/adapted as a respite care facility for secondary schools in 2018/2019. Parts of the building were also previously altered to nursery use, but reset in 2021. Bærums Verk school is currently used as a respite school for secondary schools, and an upgrade of the building is now planned. Climate and environmental requirements have been put in the requirement specifications in this project, which together are considered to provide a better climate and environmental effect than weighting climate and environmental considerations with a minimum of thirty percent in the award criteria, cf.
