This simple wired network makes it possible to send both voice messages and, preferably, also limited data (IP) messages. The Wired field telephony system (typically there are 40 Field telephones per Wired field telephony system) and the field telephones - the end devices - must be easy to use, and provide basic as well as additional functionality like the ability to transmit analogue voice - and, optionally, data - and the ability to be connected to other systems via interfaces.
