d transport sectors cannot yet be directly electrified. Until they can, Power-to-X (PtX) is the missing link. PtX enables us to produce anything formerly dependent on fossil fuels with RE and carbon. These climate neutral e-fuels and chemicals can defossilise high-emissions industries, incl. chemical, fertiliser, steel, and cement industries as well as aviation and maritime transport. PtX offers a tremendous potential for developing and emerging economies. They can accelerate their economic development, become less dependent on fossil fuel imports, and decrease their CO2 emissions at the same time. However, knowledge on PtX is still scarce within relevant stakeholder groups.
