ms to strengthen quality infrastructure in Africa’s pharmaceutical sector by supporting regulatory systems, harmonizing quality standards, and improving access to safe, effective, and high-quality medical products. The African Union Commission is the project’s political partner. A key partner is the African Medicines Agency (AMA), a specialized agency of the African Union established under the AMA Treaty. AMA supports African Union Member States and National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) in strengthening regulatory systems, promoting regulatory harmonization, reliance, and mutual recognition, while advancing local pharmaceutical manufacturing and health innovation. Headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda, AMA coordinates continental regulatory collaboration, capacity building, pharmacovigilance, quality management, market surveillance, and emergency preparedness in close cooperation with AU
